Desford hosts it’s 20th Annual Christmas Tree Festival and it’s first Christmas Market
The Desford heritage team are delighted to help kick off the festive season in this special village, for residents and visitors alike there is fun for the whole family on the weekend of 25th to 28th November.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the St Martin’s Christmas Tree festival at St Martin’s Church, visitors can also enjoy the Desford outdoor Christmas Market, Santa’s workshop with crafts and live music on the Church Green.
There’s free entry to see the Christmas trees, which will all be based on movie themes, with a Mickey Mouse Hunt competition to keep our littlest visitors wide-eyed. The trees can be viewed every day of the festival from 10am to 6pm, with delicious lunches available in the church daily from 12:15.
The Christmas Market will also be held on the Church Green and features over 20 stalls with delicious food including craft chocolates, crêpes, flat breads and cakes. Drinks stalls include gin and real ale (tastings and gift boxes to purchase), mulled wine, mulled cider, tea, coffee and other refreshments also available. Artisan craft stalls will be bringing jewellery, bath products, art, flowers and candles. Stalls will be open Fri 25th Nov from 4pm-8pm, Sat 26th Nov from 12pm-7pm and Sun 27th Nov from 12pm-6pm.
To keep the little ones entertained, there will be a Santa’s workshop, charged at £5 per child, this will include a gift and a couple of activities - making some reindeer food and their own bauble to take home for their own trees. There’ll also be a range of other fun activities to enjoy, like book and prize tombolas, arts and crafts activities, games with prizes to be won, a charity raffle and a lucky dip!
