We have a fascinating heritage, which reflects many of the social, industrial and cultural events of Leicester and Leicestershire through time. We feel, this deserves to be shared with our local community and much further afield. The articles here have been produced using documents and photographs from the archives and are intended to give the reader an insight into this valuable village resource.

We have scrapbooks, maps, documents and artefacts held in our archives for at least 40 years.

Past and current Society newsletters can be seen here. They are usually produced 4 times a year in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Occasionally, for a particular subject or event, such as for Covid-19, we have a ‘special edition’.

A brief overview of the history of Desford, Botcheston and Newtown Unthank. Noting the major changes to work and education and the people who lived here through the times.

16 permanent boards have been designed and installed around the village to create a Heritage Trail. The boards were unveiled at the Desford Heritage Festival in July 2022.
